SBC Price Watch: 4th October 2026

SBC prices over the last 7 days: 1 drop and 2 rises of 10% or more across tracked boards.

Raspberry Pi increasing the price of the 2GB RAM variants of both the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 seems as good a time as any to publish the 1st "SBC Price Watch" I guess.. So what did the week in which we transitioned from September to October (really? already?) have in store for us...

Orange Pi Zero LTS 512MB$50.11$46.15-7.9%aliexpress.com
Figures as of 6 October 2026

Surprisingly, we see a $30 drop on the 8GB ArmSoM CM5. At $199 it's still a bit steep, but for a Rockchip RK3576 with 8GB RAM and eMMC, it's not a terrible shout if you need more power from your compute module!

An 8% drop on the Orange Pi Zero LTS sneaks in towards the end of the week too on the official AliExpress store. It's an Allwinner H3 board with 512MB of RAM, so it's the greatest of value, but a price drop's a price drop.

Biggest Rises#

Raspberry Pi 5 2GB$68.97$81.99+19.2%thepihut.com

Then we come to the Raspberry Pi duo that face ~20% increases. Sadly, it's one of many that have hit the production of these boards over the last year or so, and they'll get more flak for it as they're one of the big players with more publicity surrounding them. That said, it's a tough market right now and they can't absorb increases forever. Luckily for you, if you're not vibing with the prices, you can sort by price on the Browse page and find an alternative that may be in your price/performance range. Isn't that nice?

The Biggest Mover: Raspberry Pi 4#

Price History

£54.00 at The Pi Hut, up from £44.00 on 1 October 2026. Shown as $71.75: we convert at the daily exchange rate and only update the dollar price when the rate moves noticeably. Checked daily since 12 September 2026 (24 days). Low $59.44, high $71.75 in this window.

Out of stock at that pricePrices are before tax and shipping. Non-US stores are converted at the daily ECB rate, and the dollar price only changes when the rate moves noticeably; hover a point for the store’s own price.

As we've been monitoring pricing now for a little while, let's throw in a cheeky graph of the Raspberry Pi 4's price history. The increase on the 1st October was a steep one, and personally, for "just" $10 more, the Pi 5 would be what I picked up every day of the week, assuming power/heat wasn't an issue.

Best Value After the Changes#

Not much changes on the best value front when we look at the Geekbench 6 multi-core per $USD ranking. This will constantly evolve as pricing updates, and in some cases boards will be out of date due to them being out of stock and no updated pricing being available should stock become available again.

Keeping Up With the Price Trackians#

If you want to keep up to date with the ups and downs, the SBC price tracking page will do the job. I'm still waiting on some API approvals on AliExpress' side to be able to track even more of the board's pricing, but we have a good collection so far, and it grows constantly. Would anyone be interested in receiving alerts/notifications for these? It's on my to-do list..
