About MAME Arcade Emulation SBC Benchmark Rankings testing

MAME's built-in benchmark runs a real arcade game as fast as the board can manage, with no video or sound output and no frame limiter, then reports the emulation speed as a percentage of real time: 100% is exactly full speed, anything higher is headroom. We emulate 90 seconds of each game three times and report the average, running extra passes when the first three disagree by more than 5%. Emulation leans heavily on a single fast CPU core, so this tracks single-core performance more closely than multi-core scores. Each game has its own ranking; switch between them above. We use the MAME package from each board's own Linux distribution, so the MAME version can differ between boards and is shown in the table. Higher is better.
