Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fastest single board computer in Video Decoding (AV1 4K Decode)?

The Orange Pi 6 16GB currently tops our Video Decoding (AV1 4K Decode) ranking with 120.7 (Frames per Second), measured on real hardware with our standardised test setup.

What is a good Video Decoding (AV1 4K Decode) score for an SBC?

Across the 19 boards we have tested, Video Decoding (AV1 4K Decode) results range from 4.33 to 120.7 (Frames per Second), with a median of 18. Anything above the median puts a board in the faster half of the market.

About Video Decode & Convert SBC Benchmark Rankings testing

We decode short clips of the open film Tears of Steel with FFmpeg as fast as the board can, measured in frames per second, and convert H.264 to HEVC and AV1 with each encoder's default settings. This is software decoding on the CPU, the same FFmpeg build on every board, so the numbers compare the processors directly; 24 fps is real time for these clips. Clips are loaded into memory first, so storage speed doesn't matter. Hardware decode speed and which formats the board's video engine handles are on each board's page. Each workload has its own ranking; switch between them above. Higher is better.
