The Raspberry Pi Model B was originally released in 2012 (and was the 1st SBC I ever purchased!) so it's not going to be lighting up the results tables compared to the  current flagship, the <a href="/1-raspberry-pi-5-8gb">Raspberry Pi 5</a> but it still has a solid place in the ecosystem. It's perfect for low-power (both in terms of power draw, and performance required) applications and I'm still using it for Pi-Hole after all these years.

The Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB RAM represents a significant step up from the <a href="https://sbc.compare/9-raspberry-pi-4-2gb">Raspberry Pi 4</a>, though it comes with some caveats. The custom RP1 I/O controller delivers real performance improvements you'll actually notice in day-to-day use. The 8GB variant gives you breathing room for running multiple Docker containers or handling heavier desktop workloads without constantly checking RAM usage. The PCIe 2.0 interface finally lets you add proper NVMe storage without dealing with USB bottlenecks. You'll want active cooling though as this board runs hot under load. The community support remains unmatched, which matters when you inevitably hit a configuration issue at 2am.
